Cate Richards is an artist and jeweler originally from Providence, Rhode Island and currently located in Madison, Wisconsin. She graduated from Baker University with a BA in Art and Art History in 2012, and in 2017 began her attendance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a first-year MFA Candidate. In 2016 she was named one of American Craft Week's "30 Exceptional Craftspeople Under 30", and was granted a residency at Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. She also was named the inaugural resident for the COTN Residency in Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California and spent a week in March of 2017 creating work off the grid in the Mojave Desert.
Cate exhibits nationally and has shown work at EatMetal Inc. in Hoboken, NJ and Lillstreet Arts Center in Chicago. She balances her studio practice with her work with nonprofit arts institutions, and has held positions at The Lawrence Arts Center as well as The Society of North American Goldsmiths.
